Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage places orderly and to stock up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be utilized. The reach truck is available in several types: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This particular version consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet needs to go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not just slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This particular version is ideal in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
In most warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities utilize different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and could make the most of available storage space while increasing productivity.
