JLG Telehandlers Missouri
John L. Grove chose to retire after spending many years working together with his brother to build their crane construction business into a global leader. John and his wife Cora celebrated their retirement by setting out on a cross-country trip in their recreational vehicle. After that specific trip, JLG Industries, Inc. emerged and became the world's top producer of specialized material handling equipment and mobile aerial work platforms.
John spent a lot of the time in the R.V. journey talking to prior business associates who the Groves were visiting on their trip. Sadly, while they visited the Hoover Dam, 2 employees were accidentally electrocuted on scaffolding. During following conversations, John discovered a huge untapped market for a product that could safely and quickly raise people into the air to be able to perform maintenance and construction functions.
When John and his wife returned from the trip, John decided to take action. He and two close friends started a partnership and after that bought a small metal manufacturing company in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania. In the year 1970, with an initial team of 20 workers, the trio built and sold the very first JLG aerial work platform. Numerous parts of the basic design elements of that very first equipment are still being incorporated into the existing machines
