Narrow aisle forklifts
Narrow aisle forklifts are usually used within warehousing operations. These forklifts are vital machines in the industry since their small size and excellent maneuverability allow warehouses to make the most of storing space. They could easily negotiate aisles which are 1.8 meters wide, while typical lift trucks need 3.4 meters of aisle width, at least.
The two types are "narrow aisle forklift" and the "very narrow aisle forklift". The first need 2.4 meters - 3 meters in aisle width, whilst the latter could function in a 1.8 meters wide space.
The design of a narrow aisle forklift includes forks positioned at right angles to the body of the truck. The trucks do not need to face the shelves, but instead drive straight down the aisle picking up loads to the side. This particular design feature is the key to their suitability for tight spaces.
Several very narrow aisle forklifts come with wire or optical guidance systems which make sure that the forklift moves in a straight line down the aisle, that leaves the operator free to focus on load placement and picking.
The cushion tires which come with these types of lifts are made of solid rubber. The hard tires perform well on smooth, paved surfaces and concrete floors. Narrow aisle forklifts have electric motors that is best utilized within indoor places. Propane-powered versions are available as well.
