The Knuckle Boom Lifts designed by Genie are rather strong four wheel drive and four wheel steering capable equipment. These models allow for work to be performed efficiently, even on rough terrains. The menu based ALC 1000 electronic controls help to enable the user to make easy calibrations to the equipment and its components. System diagnostics are offered in various languages. There are dual fuel options available on the Z-80/60 model. The optional Deutz diesel powered engine is quiet, but turbocharged. It allows for enhanced performance at higher altitudes. It also carries more than enough torque for better grade-ability and terrain.
The full-time positive traction and 4-wheel drive ability adds enhanced traction for tough terrain. The Z-135/70 only offers four-wheel steering. Optional features on this unit comprise coordinated, crab, front wheel, and rear wheel steering to give the equipment added agility. On the Z-80/60 the full-time active oscillating axle helps enhance wheel contact on irregular ground. All of these features truly make Genie Knuckle Boom lifts smoother and easier to use on uneven terrain.
Although these models are larger than other Genie engine-powered articulating Z-booms, they have features like continuous 360 degree turntable rotation and telescoping jibs to provide the user with incredible range of motion and reach. The design of the Z-boom gives the units outstanding over and up positioning capability that varies from 8.83 meters on the Z-80/60 model to 23.01 meters on the Z-135/70 model. The XChassis expanding axle is an ingeniously engineered mechanism utilized for both retracting and extending axles in and out of stowed position. If the axle is stowed the width of the Z-135/70 model machine is only 2.46 meters. The Z-80/60 has fixed width axles for easier transport.
