The Carriage
Like typical lift trucks, the lifting attachment could be tilted from its horizontal position to forwards and backwards. The actual amount of tilt possible totally exceeds that of vertical mast forklifts. There is a huge range of lifting attachments available, and this positioning ability makes them as effective as possible.

Most telehandlers can tilt forward to a point where the carriage is actually parallel with the ground believe it or not! Furthermore, many units offer rotating carriages also. This allows the operator to adjust the lifting attachment radially. This translates to the load being capable of being tilted backwards and forwards, as well as side to side.

Load Capacity
Figuring out a telehandler's load capacity is a a lot different exercise than it is on a vertical mast unit. The capacity of the unit is totally dependent on such things as: the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable and boom extension and angle, whether the unit is lifting on outriggers or on rubber tires. In addition, which lifting attachment plays an important role, as does the wind, the grade the machine is operating on et cetera. All of these specifics could be changing regularly and this gives the operator much more information to take into consideration.

Telehandlers would often have several different load charts available to them, giving them a good reference they can utilize to know a particular lift's load capacity. Depending on the model in particular and the configuration of the boom, the load capacity may differ by thousands of pounds all together.
